It was April 14, 1975 when a first meeting was held to form a Senior’s Drop in Centre in Zurich. The group chose the name “ ZURICH GOLDEN AGERS” . Several seniors worked very hard to convert the basement of the township Hall into two meeting rooms, and named the rooms “The Den” and the “Drawing Room”. In early years the Den became a domain for the men to work or play games. And the drawing room was used for social activities and quilting parties.
The Den is now the home of the Solo Club. Over the years card parties , picnics and bus trips have been enjoyed as well as Line dancing and exercise classes. The Golden Agers joined the UNITED SENIOR CITIZENS OF ONTARIO in 1976
Why Join the U.S.C.O.? The U.S.C.O. is working untiringly to improve the social , economic and recreational needs of older people and to keep before the public eye an awareness of seniors in the community. We try to send delegates to the annual convention of the U.S.C.O. Our Zurich club promote and participate in ONTARIO’S TRI-COUNTY SENIOR GAMES
