Municipality of Bluewater...
On January
2, 2001 the former Townships of Hay and Stanley along with the Villages of
Zurich,
Hensall and
Bayfield amalgamated to form the Municipality of Bluewater.
The new Municipality of Bluewater is situated on Ontario’s West Coast, in Huron
County. Bluewater thrives with a population of 6,680 and a population of over
9,000 residents throughout the summer season.
Bluewater is proud to offer unique shops, historical parks and annual community events, such as the Zurich Bean Festival, Hensall Community-Wide Yard Sale and Christmas in Bayfield. Agriculture leads as the major industry in Bluewater, from the harvesting of beans to the production of honey. Tourism is the second largest industry Bluewater offers. Bluewater’s manufacturing industry varies from trailers to ice sculptures.
Bluewater’s extraordinary lakeside communities, as well as its awesome sunsets, are all highlighted by the shores of historical Lake Huron. The shoreline is accented by its five established public Marinas where approximately 400 vessels are docked annually.
The surrounding area offers a considerable number of attractions; a Lake Huron coastline of endless beaches, parks, walking and cycling trails, marinas, golf courses, historical points of interest, cultural and tourist attractions (including theatres, artists’ studios and museums) conservation areas and agricultural countryside .
Whether you reside full-time, seasonal or just come for a visit; we welcome you to the Municipality of Bluewater.
Our Municipal office is located in Zurich, Ontario. Council meetings are held every other Monday in the council chambers at the Stanley Complex, 38594B Mill Rd. (County Road #3), west of Varna.
